Los Angeles Family School (LAFS) is a progressive, non-profit, parent participatory school for children aged two to six. Established in 1972 in Silverlake, a diverse neighborhood ten minutes from downtown Los Angeles, LAFS is proud of their long and rich history.
Our families represent a wide variety of socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Our emergent curriculum focuses on developmentally appropriate practices and fosters independence and social competence by emphasizing problem solving, peaceful conflict resolution, and creativity.
In accordance with applicable federal law and school policy, Los Angeles Family School does not discriminate in any of its policies, procedures or practices on the basis of race, color or national origin. Our program welcomes families of all religious, socio--economic, ethnic and racial backgrounds. We seek a diverse student population including children with special needs.
